Oh how the times have changed…
March 24th, 2010. Published under Main Content. No Comments.
Do you remember the days of going to the grocery store, when you could just go to the meat section and choose a piece of meat with some degree of confidence that you’re actually getting the real thing. As in, getting a piece of meat that wasn’t injected with growth hormones or some super feed?
Or how about the days when “natural” and “artificial” flavoring wasn’t even in our vocabulary. Or perhaps when you saw a label that something had anything “natural” in it, you were confident that it was, well… natural.
Oh how the times have changed.
Nowadays going to the super market and actually reading the ingredients on the food that you buy can be like reading a short novel. With so many chemicals and lab produced foods and flavors, it’s no wonder why the US is currently the fattest country in the world according to NationMaster.com (I admittedly have no idea how accurate they are).
Over the last 20-30 years our food supply has become industrialized. In fact, chances are most people my age have NEVER had beef from a grass fed cattle. Pretty shocking if you ask me. Especially considering the cattle’s current feed, corn, is so terrible for the cattle that it literally destroys their internal organs.
Yup, cows aren’t supposed to eat corn. They’re supposed to eat grass just like all those pictures you see on your dairy products (and nope, those cows generally aren’t fed grass either).
It’s truly amazing to me what we’ve done.
We now live in a country where people go to fast food restaurants to eat off their value meals because it’s CHEAPER to buy a cheeseburger than it is to buy food at a grocery store and make it yourself. And that’s not even if you want to eat organic foods which is a whole other topic all together.
I’m truly shocked at what is our current reality.
Now in my last blog post I said this blog is going to take on a different direction and I’m sorry to say I kind of lied.
I’m not going to dedicate this blog to my insane obsession that is our food supply.
Instead, I’m going to be creating a completely new blog to do it. To share all of my findings and merely inform you and anyone else willing to listen of what the reality is that we live in.
Be on the lookout. I’ll post the new link soon.
Cheers,

Wow… It’s been a while.
March 9th, 2010. Published under Main Content. No Comments.
It seems like this always happens.
I get all excited and think that I’m going to be super dedicated to actually blogging only to eventually end up being lazy and let the thing sit for a while.
My bad.
Anyway, if you’re at all interested in how I did in my 14 week challenge, I didn’t quite hit my goal, but I did come close. I ended up losing 20 pounds and got in pretty darn good shape. Since then, I’ve fluctuated a little but my weight seems to be for the most part under control but I’m working on a new program now.
So… with all that being said, what’s next?
Well, I’ve never really found something that I was truly passionate about blogging about until recently (well, minus anything regarding the Mac but you can just check me out on Twitter for those updates
).
But I’ve finally found something that I’m becoming extremely passionate about. And something that I think the world (at least Americans) really need to know about.
There’s information about it out there, but not enough if you ask me.
Most people have no idea what’s really going on (and I’m no expert either…yet) but they have the right to know.
So be on the look out (if anyone actually reads this thing) to see what this is all about and what’s gonna happen next.
I think you might be pretty surprised at the information I’m about to reveal to you.
Talk soon,

After 7 Weeks, I’ve Lost About 14 Pounds…
August 6th, 2009. Published under Main Content. 1 Comment.
Hey,
So I’m 7 weeks down, just about halfway done with my 14 week challenge and I’m right on target.
I’ve now officially lost right about 14 pounds and to be honest, I’m pretty stoked. I was kinda worried that I would lose any motivation that I had but this is becoming more and more fun.
But I have made a pretty big change in what I’m doing… and I think it probably has a pretty big influence on the results that I’ve got up until now and how this is gonna end up finishing up…
As crazy as it sounds, I’m cutting out as much meat as I possibly can (if you know me, you know how much I LOVE cheeseburgers and meat so this is a big deal for me) for a bunch of reasons (if you wanna know, just ask). Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna eat meat, but it’s gonna be a LOT different.
And if I can, I’m going to try and cut it out completely. But for now, baby steps…
So anyway, I’m about halfway done and pretty much right on track of where I should be…
Till next time…
Cheers,

Wednesday June 24th
June 24th, 2009. Published under Main Content. No Comments.
This is gonna be my first daily report on what’s going down in my 14 week challenge.
I actually spent way more time putting together my other posts and getting this blog all ready than I thought I was going to but whatever… It’s getting kinda fun…
So here’s what we got today:
Today I did my “day 2″ of my rotating 2 day exercise routine (for the time being I have two main workouts that I do twice a week).
Even though it was tougher than I was hoping… I got up bright and early and got my ass to the gym. It was strength training time since I blew it the day before (I used up one of my alcohol nights on Monday
). Got my full workout in and was sweating like a hog (which is awesome!)… I hit up the sauna for about 20 minutes doing what I always do in the sauna…
…read
Yup, after all the crap I went through in school and with how much I absolutely hated reading, now, I spend every day sitting in the sauna for about 20 minutes and read.
And don’t think it’s some literal masterpieces or anything of the like…
Nope, no Shakespeare for me…
Currently, I’m reading two books. One that’s fucking hilarious (and wrong on sooo many levels) and then a book that is a flat out good read.
What are they?
“I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell” and “The Game”.
So when I got back from work today… I hit up the gym again, this time for my cardio workout and read The Game as I was riding the bike. I burned just over 300 calories on the bike alone and then hit up the sauna for a second time, this time reading some Tucker Max and I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell.
What I’ve been finding is that while most people have problems getting to the gym… thinking it’s too much of a pain in the butt… I actually find it to be one of the best things I can do for myself.
Forget the fact that I’m actually doing something that’s really good for me… It’s super therapeutic. It’s time for me to do whatever I have to do, listen to some music and sweat. Then hitting the sauna and getting some reading done is one of the best feelings in the world.
If you’re finding it tough to get to the gym, find some good music and just get there… That’s by far the hardest part… Just making your way to the gym.
Till next time…

What Is The 14 Week Challenge?
June 24th, 2009. Published under Main Content. No Comments.
This is it…
This is the plan that I created on June 15th that started the 14 week challenge…
Now realize that I started to blog about this about a week and a half after I had started so there is gonna be a gap in where everything fits in but just roll with it…
Here’s the EXACT plan that I came up with:
June 15th-September 15th 2009:
Goal: Lose 27 pounds in 14 weeks
Days to do this: 92 days
27 lbs/92 days=0.293 lbs/day
Weeks: 14 weeks
27lbs/14 weeks= 1.92 lbs/week
In order to accomplish this goal, I must lose, on average, 1.92 lbs/week. In order to do this, I will only eat out for a maximum of 4 meals/week and will only drink a maximum of 2 days/week. I will not eat ANY deep fried foods and will only eat meat 2 times/week.
I must also work out a MINIMUM of 4 days/week of pure strength training and at least 1 day/week of cardio/fat burning.
I will accomplish this goal of losing 27 pounds in 14 weeks by being faithful to this agreement and will make sure that I get into the best shape of my life.
This is to be completed by the 15th day of September 2009 and I will make sure that I stay committed to this plan.
So there you have it… Exactly how I planned this out to achieve the EXACT goal that I’m seeking…
Cheers,
–Curt
